Trees Series: 2023-2024
Recently I've been focused on trees as a figurative, sculptural element in my work. For many years I've enjoyed the practice of figure drawing, and have been part of groups of artists meeting to share model fees and draw together. Currently, this is not an option in my area -- not without a long drive, so I've focused my attention on trees.
One of my favorite poems in elementary school was "Trees" by Harry Behn, which starts "Trees are the kindest things I know, they do no harm, they simply grow." (see the complete poem here)
